Session 1: March 2 - Ruby Lee

Intro to Ayurveda (Sister Science to Yoga)

“The great thing about Ayurveda is that its treatments always yields side benefits not side effects” - Shubra Krishan

You will learn:

  • What is Ayurveda including its relation to yoga and relevance in todays world.

  • Brief history of Ayurveda that has its roots in India and the system of Samkhya Philosophy the five elements, their attributes and the doshic theory.

  • Yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation that brings balance to all three doshas.

Session 2: March 4 - Jennifer Reuter

What you will get:

  • the two wings of mindfulness meditation 

  • Brain’s networks: default mode and present center and how they work

  • Homonuclus and Brain Mapping

  • the purpose of a body scan

Session 3: March 7 - Cecilia Ryan

The Mover: Air + Space / Vata dosha

What you get:

  • Learn about the qualities of air + space, and how they show up in your body-mind and in the world around you.

  • What are the functions of this elemental combination - called Vata dosha - and where are its primary sites in the body.

  • How Vata relates to our circadian and infradian rhythm

  • How a balanced state feels and looks like, as well as how to identify signs & symptoms of an imbalance.

  • Simple and doable steps to return to harmony - lifestyle, diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, herbs.

  • Yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation that supports a balanced Vata

Session 4: March 9 - Jennifer Reuter

  • understanding the skill and the practice of Mindfulness Breathing

  • understanding & identifying the habits of mind

  • how being in the moment helps the body calm down and heal

  • increase the ability to track and sense the breath for sustained periods

Session 5: March 11 - Ruby Lee

The Transformer: Fire + Water / Pitta dosha

You will learn:

  • The inherent qualities of fire + water and how they show up in your body / mind including the world around you.

  • The functions of this elemental combination - called Pitta dosha - and its primary sites in the body.

  • How Pitta relates to our circadian rhythm or our internal body clocks.

  • How a balanced state feels and looks like, as well as how to identify signs & symptoms of an imbalance.

  • Simple and easy tips to bring Pitta into harmony - lifestyle, diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, herbs.

  • Yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation that supports a balanced Pitta.

Session 6: March 14 - Cecilia Ryan

The Nourisher: Water + Earth / Kapha dosha

  • Learn about the qualities of water + earth, and how they show up in your body-mind and in the world around you.

  • What are the functions of this elemental combination - called Kapha dosha - and where are its primary sites in the body.

  • How Kapha relates to our circadian and infradian rhythm

  • How a balanced state feels and looks like, as well as how to identify signs & symptoms of an imbalance.

  • Simple and doable steps to bring back harmony - lifestyle, diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, herbs.

  • Yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation that supports a balanced Kapha

Session 7: March 16 - Ruby Lee

Vayus: Powers of Air

Prana governs all forms of energy and is the basic energy that moves us forward in life.

According to the science of Yoga and Ayurveda, Prana is further subdivided into 5 categories

and these 5 pranas are called Vayus, “Powers of Air”

You will learn:

  • The pranic body and the 5 subdivisions.

  • The five types of energy we carry including how they each manifest in the world around us.

  • The relationship between the 5 types of Prana the 5 elements of nature, the energy centers of consciousness and how it applies to different stages of life.

  • Practice of yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breath control) that will help bring balance to the prana vayus.

Session 8: March 18 - Jennifer Reuter

What you will get:

  • understanding the skill and the practice of Mindfulness of Sensation

  • practices for managing stress skillfully

  • understanding “interoception”: the secrets of internal sensation, vibration, pulsation and it’s effects on the subtle body 

  • discussion on the feeling tones:  pleasant, unpleasant and neutral

Session 9: March 21 - Cecilia Ryan

Agni - The digestive fire

What you get:

  • What is Agni - digestive fire

  • What are its functions in our body-mind

  • How to spot a healthy digestive fire

  • How to recognize an impaired digestive fire

  • Simple and doable routines that support a healthy and balanced Agni

  • Yoga practice, including pranayama and meditation around healthy metabolism and digestion

Session 10: March 23 - Jennifer Reuter

 “How people treat you is their Karma; How you REACT is yours” —Wayne Dyer

What you will get:

  • understanding the skill and the practice of Self-Compassion

  • learning how to observe the mind with curiosity and kindness so you get less lost in “stories”

  • practicing and working with Metta (loving Kindness)

  • working with resistance and exploring emotions.

Session 11: March 25 - Ruby Lee

The Vital Essences: Prana, Tejas and Ojas

“It is Ojas which keeps all living beings nourished and refreshed. There can be no life without Ojas” -Charaka Samhita

You will learn:

  • The functions of the vital essences (prana, ojas, tejas) and its primary sites in the body.

  • Signs of abundant or depleted prana, ojas, tejas.

  • Useful tips to support, optimize and nourish these energies in your daily life.

Session 12: March 28 - Cecilia Ryan

Ayurveda & the seasons

“Look to the seasons when choosing your cures.” - Hippocrates

What you get:

  • What are the seasons & how do the elements show up in it.

  • The importance of “Like attracts like, and opposites balance”, and how it may affect your mind-body type.

  • Seasonal guidelines to live in harmony with Nature - around food, lifestyle, exercise.

  • A well-rounded yoga practice that takes our current season into consideration.
